MILES TAGTMEYER

MILES TAGTMEYER is currently nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for his work in BROKEN. He plays Liam, a young man suffering from schizophrenia whose medication is switched causing him to succumb to his delusions with tragic results. Fellow veteran actress Lee Garlington also received a nomination for Outstanding Actress for her role as Darlene.

In May of 2017 Tagtmeyer decided to create his own content. He and three friends began collaborating on the series about stigma surrounding mental health, specifically schizophrenia. Mental health is a topic that few fully understand unless they have first-hand experience dealing with it themselves or with someone they love.

With no studio or network support, Tagtmayer enlisted a crew of 30 plus people and shot with 2 RED cameras, a Steadicam and a dolly. He and his friends built two apartments and a therapist’s office all inside of a single family home. Broken shot for 8 days with an average of 12 pages per day and immediately following the wrapping of principle photography, it went into post-production for less than 2 months and was released on April 13, 2018.

The young Emmy nominee hails from Mendota Heights, Minnesota where he first started working as a professional actor when he was 8 years old. Tagtmeyer grew up working in theaters across the Twin Cities including The Guthrie, The Children’s Theater, Theater de la Jeune Lune, The History Theater, Youth Performance Company and Stages Theater Company. On television he has appeared on Disney Descendants: School of Secrets, Major Crimes and Castle. Commercially he has appeared in national spots for Taco Bell and FedEx.

Tagtmeyer attended high school at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and after moving to Los Angeles, he spent two years at Glendale Community College before transferring to California State University Northridge where he earned a BA in Communication Studies and a Minor in Economics. He also attended and completed the entire actor’s curriculum at The Groundlings. In 2016, to learn more about the other side of the business, he became a Casting Associate with Mark Tillman-Briggle at Tillman-Briggle Casting.
